I built a tool that sends my favorite blogs to my Kindle every morning
A short tour of the whole app: adding feeds, ordering the digest, and the random article trick that keeps Paul Graham essays landing on my Kindle.
I have a nasty habit of doom scrolling on my phone first thing in the morning. I also love my Kindle, so I built a tool that packages up my favorite bloggers, articles and newspapers and sends me a daily digest to read there instead.
It has really helped, because it redirects that first half hour towards content I picked: a little less sensational, a little better written, and not built for engagement. Here’s what the video covers, if you’d rather skim than watch.
Setting up your feed
On the left are the feeds you subscribe to. Add your own by pasting in an RSS feed or a Substack link, or hit the plus button on anything in the discovery section — a running list of the feeds other people have added to their Kindles.
Ordering what arrives first
You can change the order of the articles in the digest, so if you want one writer to show up before another, you have that control.
The random article trick
This is the feature I like most: you can send one random article a day from a feed. Paul Graham has some awesome essays, I haven’t read them all, and he isn’t publishing daily. Point the random sender at his feed and something good lands on the Kindle every morning.
That’s the whole thing. It has helped me wake up without instantly reaching for my phone, and now I keep going back to the Kindle through the day. It’s free to try — if you have questions or feedback, leave them on the video or write to marty@rsstokindle.com.
Start sending blogs, Substacks and news to your Kindle.
Free to try. Set up your first feed tonight and wake up to something worth reading.
